Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at contact@siouxlandwellco.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Every 3-5 years per industry standard.

Tanks operate full, pumping will be necessary dependent on usage and the crust layer on top.

We suggest twice a year, once in the spring & once in the fall.

Never, we recommend you have your tank pumped instead.

HELPFUL TIPS

NEVER DRAIN OR FLUSH: Cooking grease or oil, baby wipes or wet wipes, feminine hygiene products, dental floss, cigarettes, weed or insect killers, gasoline, paint thinners, latex, medicines and common household cleaning chemicals like bleach and drain cleaners.

These materials can change the bacteria level in your septic system and can cause failures by damaging the biological processes inside the tank that breaks down solid waste. These materials can also cause clogs and potentially pollute the groundwater.

Septic System diagram

  • Scum is made up of material that floats such as fats, oils, & grease.
  • Effluent is treated sewage that is discharged into the leach field, slowly releasing into the soil.
  • Sludge is made up of solids found at the bottom of the tank.
